Delhi: A Novel

Howdy,

This book I will talk about today is a masterpiece by Khushwant Singh. It has affected me in ways which I couldn't comprehend back when I read it, but now I'm slightly understanding how and why I behaved towards certain things in my life. It was all because of those magnanimously relatable events and situations I went through. The characters somehow came to life as I turned the pages of the wizard's book, leaving me nothing but bewitched.

Khushwant Singh became my favourite writer along the journey of discovering old city of Delhi with him. Even if you are not interested in history of subcontinent or Mughals, this book will mesmerise you into urging to know more about them. His love for the city itself teaches you compassion and selfless love, where even if your hands are empty at the end but your soul is sufficed. Though people find it a little obscene or invigorating in a so called unpleasing way for Khushwant's openness of expressions, I on the other hand loved his straightforward style of bringing his characters to life. One can actually feel how close he was with the place and few people just by going through the book. The saints, the eunuchs, the sultans, the courtesans, the emperors have made Delhi what it is and has left a magical effect on my mind. I'm sure most of the readers will agree with me, because for me, it is something I can always cherish and read. :) Happy reading all!!!
